CANOEING: DOWN THE SADO'S RIVER
ARRÁBIDA - ALCÁCER DO SAL - GUIZO'S VALLEY
We have three different routes available for you. These activities must be carried out with favourable currents, and therefore imply an adjustment on the time and starting points.
Through cane fields and rice paddies, with excellent conditions for local wildlife observation (herons, storks, ducks, and with luck, you can have the opportunity to came across with the dolphins).
Routes
1st Route) From Arrábida to Alcácer do Sal (42 Km)
Rowing along Sado's River, with a favourable current and in a 42Km marathon, will certainly be an interesting challenge.
From Arrábida to Alcácer do Sal, through cane fields and rice paddies, with excellent conditions for local wildlife observation ( herons, storks, ducks, and with luck, you can have the opportunity to came across with the dolphins).
The activity will be carried out with a support motorboat.
2nd Route) From Alcácer do Sal to Guizo's Valley (15 Km or 30 km).
Route 2.1: Alcácer do Sal - Guizo's Valley
Rowing along Sado's River, with a favourable current
and with a 15Km's course, will be definitely a challenge.
From Alcácer do Sal to Guizo's Valley, through cane fields and rice paddies, with excellent conditions for local wildlife observation (herons, storks, ducks).
The starting point depends on the time of the tides. You may include transportation to the departure's local.
Route 2.2: Alcácer do Sal - Guizo's Valley - Alcácer do Sal
Carrying out a full day canoeing's event with a lunch.
1st Route characteristics
- Distance: 42 Km.
- Difficulty: High.
- Time: 4 to 6 hours.
- Minimum age to practice:
14 years old.
2nd Route characteristics
- Distance:
Route 1: 15 Km.
- Difficulty: Medium/Low (It depend's on the current intensity).
- Time: 3 to 4 hours.
Route 2: 30 Km.
- Difficulty: Average/High (It depend's on the current intensity)
- Time: 6 to 8 hours.
- Minimum age to practice:
10 years old.
Requirements to practique
- Older than 6 years old, provided that accompanied by the parents or a responsable. This participant will occupy the kayak's middle sit, and therefore will have a 50% discount in the inscripotion's value.

- The events have a minimum of 6 participants, or the payment to the correspondent value.
- We offer barbecues and lunches for any given trip, paid separately.
- You may request transport to the facilities and housing, also paid separately.
- In case of cancelling the event, we return the inscriptions or reservation's full value.
